First ESO students took part in a gymkhana to celebrate Book Day this year. They were in teams and they had to go through 4 different tests dealing with this day. They learnt a lot about the biographies of famous writers. Well-done to everyone!!! Click on the image below to watch a video about the activities:
Como ya viene siendo habitual en nuestro centro, los alumnos de francés de 4º ESO han participado este año en este programa.
El programa Cruzando Fronteras es una acción de cooperación educativa conjunta del Departamento de Educación, Cultura y Deporte del Gobierno de Aragón y las Academias de Burdeos, Poitiers y Toulouse.
Fueron seleccionadas 4 alumnas que realizaron su intercambio con 4 alumnas francesas de la Academia de Toulouse. Del 10 de enero al 18 de febrero, Andrea, Alba, Ariadna y Sandra estuvieron conviviendo con sus respectivas «correspondantes» francesas y el alumnado francés realizó su estancia en nuestro centro del 28 de febrero al 8 de abril.
Antes de volver a Francia, Léa, Anna, Andréa y Daniela nos dejaron sus opiniones sobre esta experiencia.
«…avoir la chance de participer à un échange c’est incroyable, un mois et demi fait mûrir l’adolescent par la culture, le différent mode de vie, différentes habitudes. On sort tous de cet échange avec plus de connaissances, non seulement sur la langue comme sur le pays et la vie en général…»
«…En classe, les élèves et les professeurs ont été très gentils et très sympathiques et les familles, aussi…»

This year the celebration of Book Day has been devoted to fantasy books, especially to the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, whose first movie (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) was released in 2001, that is 20 years ago! The students have been looking for quotes about Harry Potter and other fantasy books, and they have written them on special paper broomsticks! THANKS a lot to ALL the students and teachers involved and also to Paz (from PIEE) for her great help and support with the workshop on bookmarks. The Department of English at Élaios High School has been working on the reading of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in order to celebrate Book Day this year. As a result, ESO students have recorded audios and filmed videos reading pages of J. K. Rowling’s first book of the «Harry Potter» series. This impressive work has been edited by their English teachers in a digital book, which you can read here below:
The long second term finished with the Spelling Bee contest in the BRIT groups and the Chatterbox Cards’ Awards for students of English. And for the first time after the pandemic the students went on a visit outside the school!!! Click on the picture below if you want to watch the video with the photos:
Last 6th April teachers organised a visit in English to EMOZ (Educational Museum of Origami in Zaragoza) with 1st ESO students. There the students had the opportunity to visit the exhibition and also to show their skills in origami in a workshop. Non-bilingual students of English of 2nd ESO A and 2nd ESO C/D visited «La Aljafería» Palace last 6th April with their English and Technology teachers. Here you can see some photos of this wonderful opportunity to learn more about History, Art and of course, English!!
On Friday 1st April BRIT 2nd ESO students went to visit the Aljafería Palace with their Art and English teachers. The visit is part of the activities for the celebrarion of Book Day, in April, devoted to the reading of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Once there the students gathered in teams and they had to solve some riddles in order to get their diplomas from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They were all very successful! WELL-DONE!
La mañana del 28 de febrero hemos recibido en la biblioteca de nuestro centro a las cuatro alumnas francesas que participan el Programa de Inmersión lingüística “Cruzando Fronteras“ del año 2022. Han acompañado a las alumnas francesas (Daniela Guerreiro, Ana Jouet, Andréa Lanet y Léa Trézières) sus correspondientes españolas (Andrea Arroyo, Alba Calzada, Ariadna Herrero y Sandra Santacruz) que ya estuvieron en Francia durante 6 semanas. Han representado al IES Élaios su director D. Rafael Martínez, la Coordinadora del Programa BRIT Francés Dª Ana Rosa Miñana y la responsable del Programa en el centro Dª Beatriz Gracia.
En este primer encuentro se les ha dado la bienvenida y se les ha entregado unos pequeños obsequios del centro y de la región. Las alumnas permanecerán en nuestro instituto hasta el 8 de abril de 2022. Proceden del Lycée International Victor Hugo, el Lycée Maréchal Soult, el Lycée Polyvalent Maréchal Lannes y el Lycée Clément Marot.
